Explanation of the Effects of GLOBE's Cultural Dimensions on Emotions in Public Organizations

Abstract

One of the unwritten functions of managers in today's organizations is emotion management i.e. developing positive emotions and prevent-ing the formation of negative emotions. One reason of positive and negative emotions occurrence is national and organizational culture. Knowing which cultural dimensions cause positive or negative emo-tions will help managers. This research has been conducted with the aim of informing managers in recognition of the cultural causes of positive and negative emotions. In order to do this, three ministries of Labor and Social Affairs, Petroleum, and Economic Affairs and Finance have been studied and the research results show a significant and direct relation among age and uncertainty avoidance with positive emotions, significant and indirect relation among power distance, in-group collectivism, gender egalitarianism and human orientation with positive emotions, significant and direct casual relation between in-group collectivism and negative emotions and significant and indirect casual relation among gender egalitarianism, assertiveness, institutional collectivism and negative emotions.
