Transformational Leadership and Social Capital: a Comparative Ap-proach to the Attitudes of Employees and Managers

Abstract

In this article, the relationship between transformational leadership and social capital has been examined. For measuring transformational leadership, idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individual consideration have been considered and so-cial capital has been measured by trust, participation and civil leader-ship, giving and volunteering,  ability to make informal communication and variety in friendship. The sample of this survey consists of the employees of industrial management institute and the data have been collected through questionnaires. Results show that transformational leadership and social capital are favorable in the eyes of both followers and leaders and the results of analyzing the hypothesis indicate the positive and significant relationship between these two variables. So, the existence of such leaders in the organizations can be a step toward increasing organizations' social capital
