Factors Affecting the Adoption of Electronic Government in Iran from the Experts’ Point of View

Abstract

Nowadays, societies and organizations encounter basic, multilateral and very quick changes. The successful organizations apply necessary changes based on these developments and advancements. One of these changes is the emergence of information and communication technology and consequently, e-government. Implementation of e-government has a lot of potential benefits for societies if the barriers and challenges of its development could be identified and the proper solutions be applied. E-government services' adoption and use by the citizens is one of the most significant challenges. This article discusses the important variables in e-government adoption according to experts’ opinions and based on Davies’ Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the effective variables on the adoption of e-government in Iran are represented. These variables in e-government adoption have been categorized and evaluated in the three groups of individual, or-ganizational and societal variables. The result showed that availability of infrastructures and services is the main effective variable in e-government adoption in Iran.
