A Survey of the Relationship between Organizational Commitment and Business Excellence

Abstract

For several years, business excellence has had an appropriate place in our country’s organizations and has been one of the management's prominent and powerful standards in the world. Also, organizational commitment is one of the business excellence factors. Increase in employees’ commitment to their duties has a direct effect on customers’ satisfaction of services and products, therefore it causes increase in market share and profit and consequently causes development and business excellence.In this research, organizational commitment and business excellence was studied and surveyed from different viewpoints. Also this research surveys the relationship between organizational commitment and business excellence and determines the most related dimensions of them. Geographic place of this research is organizations of Eastern Azerbaijan province or their branches in the province that has attended Iran National Productivity and Excellence Award in 1387. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS software and Pearson, Freidman, Linear and Multiple regressions, Canonical correlation and other helpful tests. The results show that there is a direct relationship between affective commitment and business excellence but there is no relationship between normative and continuous commitment and business excellence. Based on the results, it is suggested that those managers who apply excellence models to their organizations should attend to variables related to affective commitments as well as excellence model's criteria in formulating programs and designing quality managements systems.
