Abstract

In this thesis “the relationship between information systems (IS) and decision making process of private bank middle managers” on the aspect of decisions effectiveness enhancement is surveyed. The independent variable of this research is information systems that consists of TPS, MIS, DSS, GDSS and SIS. Decision making process could be affected from several aspects by information systems. Some important aspects which are considered in this research are “achieving online information”, “achieving correct information”, “achieving relevant information”, “achieving comprehensive information” and “existence of systematic duplicate controls”. The depended variable of this research is decision making process that on the basis of decision making classic model is divided into two different stages : problem identification and problem solving.Problem identification stage consists of problem existence informing and problem root reconnaissance. Problem solving stage consists of allocation and evaluation of alternatives, selection and examinational implementation of optimal alternative, and then permanent implementation of optimal alternative. The research questionnaires are designed in order to survey the effect of information systems on decision making process and it is two different stages.Saman Bank is selected in order to analyze the relation between the variables of this research. The reasons of this selection are as bellow:Bank middle managers including “heads of departments”, “1st & 2nd grade branches heads” and “top branches assistants” make decisions by direct using of information systems more than other levels of managers. This group of managers were selected as statistical society.  Following results were obtained on the basis of this research:• “Achieving comprehensive information” variable is more effective in problem identification stage of decision making process and “achieving online information”, “achieving correct information”, “achieving relevant information” and “existence of systematic duplicate controls” variables are more effective in problem solving stage of decision making process.• Complex of research variables are more effective in problem solving stage of decision making process.• The effects of variables in increasing the decision making process effectiveness are graded as bellow:1-“achieving online information”: %88/8 , 2- “achieving comprehensive information”: %88/6 ,                  3- “achieving correct information”: %87/2 ,  4- “existence of systematic duplicate controls”: %82/6 ,          5-  “achieving relevant information”: %73/6 .• The effect of all variables in increasing the decision making process effectiveness is about %84/2.On the basis of research results: information systems are very effective in increase of  effectiveness among middle managers decisions and decision making process, and their implementation is vital for organization effectiveness and making correct decisions
