Abstract

Self – management is a new approach in management literature which is explained in three levels: individual, group, and organizational. The main theory in traditional management is work distribution between managers and workers decision making and ordering is done by managers and accomplishment of these orders is the workers' duty. This approach is on debate in the case of self – management. In the latter, individuals make decisions and carry out orders themselves. So, the way of managing in this approach is different from traditional management system.Considering the main effects and importance of self-management in leadership and its special position in management, present study was designed to determine the presence or absence of any significant difference between Iran's administrative managers' self – management and Islamic and scientific criteria. To reach this goal, we compared self – management of these managers with self – management of Imam Khomeini as a comprehensive model of a religious leader. In fact, this study opens the door to self – recognition of administrative managers (recognition) as the preliminary step for modification and correction of their managerial behavior and style in accordance with scientific and Islamic criteria (action). Obviously, case-investigation of Imam Khomeini's self – management is essential for current study. Based on single – group test results, there is a significant difference between managers' self – management and that of Imam Khomeini. Managers in two different fields of social and cultural services received maximum and minimum self – management scores, respectively. As for pure intention and action, ultra – sensational perception and praying indices, there is greater difference between managers' self – management and Imam Khomeini's. Among spiritual experience sub – indices future forecasting, no expectance of reward or encouragement from others, listening to other's complaints and criticisms, and spiritual time showed more visible differences between managers' self – management and Imam Khomeini's one comparing with other sub – indices.
