Ranking of Selected Universities based on Infrastructures of Knowledge Management

About the rankings of universities and how that ranking should be done, there is little consensus, and many believe that ranking cause unhealthy competition between universities. Universities work so that their activities are ranked according to the criteria set, to be able to keep up in rank. In contrast, some experts have suggested an opposite view, saying that the ranking improves the quality of higher education institutions and universities. This article is the result of a research project in which Mazandaran, Gilan, Tehran, Tarbiat Modarres and Ferdowsi Universities were ranked based on knowledge management infrastructures. The statistical society includes all the members of departments of selected universities. Employing a classified random sampling, the data was collected through the distribution of a questionnaire among 346 persons of the academic staffs of selected universities. SPSS16.0 and LISREL8.5 are used for statistical analysis. The results of research show that the overall ranking of selected universities based on the infrastructures of knowledge management is as follows: 1. Ferdowsi University, 2. Tarbiat Modares University, 3. Tehran University, 4. Guilan University and 5. Mazndaran University
