Increasing spread of information and communication technology and the deep impact of it on all aspects of society, including jobs and careers, have led to the emergence of teleworking. Teleworking has been deployed in most of the developed countries, and has created a significant added value for their societies therefore, developing countries must prepare themselves for teleworking and its various benefits. This paper outlines and evaluates the effective obstacles and various aspects to be addressed in preparing governmental organizations of Iran for the introduction and implementation of teleworking. In summary, the main obstacles are lack of teleworking skills in employees, resistance against change in organizational culture, lack of supporting governmental policies, lack of attention to developing ICT infrastructures, weak information security, conservative thinking about jobs and some concerns about potential social problems.
